Forum for Community Upliftment System Nepal (FOCUS-Nepal), a NGO working on humanitarian and development field in Dhading District, is currently looking for potential candidates for the following position:
- Position: Technical Officer (Civil Engineer) – 1 (Earthquake Recovery Programme Nepal (ERPN) – Christian Aid supported programme)
Scope of Work:
Stationed at Dhading, the Technical Officer (Engineer) will be report to the Project Coordinator of ERPN Project at FOCUS-Nepal. S/he will maintain close coordination and linkage with financial supporting partner Christian Aid, DEO, DWSS, DCC, NRA, HRRP, DLPIU and Rural/Municipalities. S/he will also seek technical, managerial and programmatic support of the Project Management Team of FOCUS-Nepal.
Major responsibilities of the Technical Officer (Civil Engineer) will include, but is not limited to:
- Conduct Survey, develop Estimate, Design & Drawing, Implementation of the targeted construction schemes.
- Prepare plans for effective execution of the project activities as stipulated in the project document.
- Guide, supervise and lead the ERPN team in a coordinated way while supporting the project team as the Technical Officer.
- Travel frequently to project areas and mobilise related stakeholders and beneficiary communities as per the project activities and agreement signed among, Christian Aid (CAID) and FOCUS-Nepal to fulfil the objective of the project.
- Prepare and submit field visit reports, Technical progress reports to CAID and FOCUS-Nepal.
- Function as Technical coordinator among the district level project team and EPO of CAID.
- Represent FOCUS-Nepal as the Technical person at different levels of meetings, workshops, for as and when necessary.
Minimum Qualification and Other Requirements:
Candidates should have:
- B.E.in Civil Engineering with more than 2 years experiences in development and reconstruction field.
- High levels of skills in project planning and management, demonstrated skills in prioritising task and meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication, analytical and report writing skills with fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali.
- Knowledge and skills in computing, demonstrated inter-personal skills in working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Good knowledge and preferred experience on participatory research/ development approaches, community mobilisation, and project development and implementation.
- Willingness and enthusiasm for working with rural and vulnerable communities living in remote areas of the country.
Position Base:
Based in Dhading Besi, FOCUS-Nepal office with frequent travel to project areas.
Contract Duration:
Initially 3 months, with possibility for extension.
